Summer Science!!!
Incoming 7th and 8th graders need to include science in their summer learning plans. Science is everywhere, all you need to do is look with the eyes of a scientist. Students participate by completing one of these listed options or doing anything that is linked to science. Once we are back at school we will have share day. This science class will be an opportunity for students to share about their summer science activity and discuss in a group it's science connections.
Summer science options:
Reading a science non-fiction book or a science based fiction book (can also be counted towards your summer reading packet).
Interacting with a science web page or with a science App.
Experiencing a science location or looking at a location with the eyes of a scientist.
Observing and collecting data.
Impacting the environment in a positive way.
Working a mechanical, engineering or programming task.
Volunteer to help maintain the flower or vegetable garden.
Observe the season's changes for your local water body.
Organize a local clean up.
Work with an adult on vehicle repair or on a construction project.
Explore either a sandy coastline or a rocky coastline (or check out both and compare).
Visit a big city and observe the living things, building engineering or transportation systems.
Go to: The Farm Museum, Strawberry Banke, The Boston Museum of Science, The Boston Aquarium, Old Sturbridge Village, etc. (see Library for passes)
Hike a mountain and observe the changes from base to summit.
